Newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, says the party will take calculated risks and make difficult decisions as part of efforts to return to power in the 2028 general elections.

According to him, winning political power remains the NPP’s primary objective, and every major decision taken by the party must ultimately serve that goal.

“The first objective of the party is to win power,” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

Mr Boadu acknowledged that the NPP has several plans and visions but said the party must prioritise those that are most likely to improve its chances of electoral victory.

“As the Bible says, we have the right to do everything, but not all is beneficial. Likewise, the party has a lot of plans and visions, but you only do the things that will bring you victory,” he said.

He stressed that the party’s approach would not be about preventing individuals from pursuing their interests but ensuring that the right decisions are taken to strengthen the NPP ahead of the next elections.

“We are not out to prevent anybody from participating, but just to make sure the right things are done,” he said.

Mr Boadu said his administration would be prepared to make bold strategic decisions to improve the party’s performance at both the parliamentary and presidential levels.

“The party will have to forgive me because I will do everything within my power to reverse that,” he said.

He insisted that such decisions would not be influenced by favouritism, nepotism or personal relationships.

“And it will not be based on favouritism, nepotism, or familiarity, because if the victory comes, it is for all of us,” he said.

Mr Boadu said the NPP would therefore take calculated risks to strengthen its grassroots structures and improve its electoral performance.

“We will take calculated risks to ensure the party is prepared on the ground and wins the majority of parliamentary seats and ultimately the presidential seat,” he said.
