The Member of Parliament for Akrofuom, Joseph Azumah, has said that it will be a tough battle for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region during the 2028 general elections.
According to him, voters are now prioritizing development over party loyalty.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the MP criticized the NPP for what he described as its poor performance in the region during its eight years in power.
“The NPP was in government for eight years and could not complete major projects in the Ashanti Region. They promised five interchanges but failed to deliver. They should be apologizing to the people of Ashanti for neglecting them,” he said.
Mr Azumah emphasized that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is currently addressing the region’s developmental needs, citing the near completion of the Kejetia Market Phase Two project and other initiatives.
“At some point, there was waste everywhere in Ashanti, but we have cleared it. The NDC is serious about resetting the nation,” he added.
