NPP Presidential race: My record as Education Minister is there for all to see – Adutwum

Former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has highlighted his achievements in transforming Ghana’s education sector as the foundation for his ambition to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to party supporters after filing his nomination forms at the NPP headquarters in Accra, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament (MP) said his tenure at the Ministry of Education demonstrated his capacity to deliver results.

“The work that I have done at the Ministry of Education, given the opportunity by President Akufo-Addo, I began transforming public schools, I began bringing STEM education to Ghana, and revamping TVET education. Now the testimony is there for you all to see,” he stated.

He stressed that his leadership style is grounded in results, insisting that his record speaks for itself.

“I only do evidence-based communication. What I have done is there for every one of you to see,” Dr. Adutwum told the gathering.

Positioning himself as a strong contender for the party’s flagbearership, he argued that his contributions to national development make him a natural choice.

“If the Minister, who did a great job for this party and did a great job for this nation, stands in front of you and wants to be a flagbearer, here is a front-bearer who is a complete flagbearer,” he declared.

Responding to perceptions that he is “too quiet,” the former Minister said his calm disposition should not be mistaken for weakness.

“There are some of you who say, ‘Yes, Adutwum is too quiet.’ I have a backbone of steel,” he asserted.
