The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its highly anticipated National Delegates Conference today, Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
Over 5,500 delegates from across the country are expected to participate in the event, which comes at a critical time for the party following its loss in the 2024 general elections.
Organised under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” the conference aims to promote introspection, unity, and a renewed commitment to the party’s core principles.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, told Channel One News that delegates will deliberate and vote on more than 50 consolidated motions.
These motions, he explained, stem from over 300 proposed amendments submitted to the party’s Amendments Committee and have since been streamlined for consideration.
“In all, we have a little over 50 motions. One amendment may encompass up to 50 proposals. What we’ve done is consolidate the issues into clear motions for delegates to vote on,” Osei Owusu stated.
He noted that the motions have been compiled into a booklet reviewed by the National Executive Committee and will be distributed to delegates ahead of the voting process.
“All of the motions will be considered. We believe that by 4 PM, we should be done,” he added.
The outcome of the conference is expected to influence the NPP’s constitutional reforms and strategic roadmap as it charts a new path forward.
