The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to take legal action to stop the Electoral Commission (EC) from conducting a rerun in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North constituency.
NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
The EC has scheduled the rerun for Friday, July 11, 2025.
However, Mr. Kodua argued that the electoral body lacks the legal basis to call for a rerun in only selected polling stations.
He stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost the election but wants to deliberately subvert the will of the people, and the NPP would resist.
“The NDC knows that they lost the election. We in the NPP shall stop at nothing in our quest to ensure that the power, which has been respected and upheld by the democratic rights and sovereign will of the people of Ablekuma North, as expressed by them on December 7, 2024, is upheld.
“Therefore, we have directed our legal team to challenge the directive in court. We shall file in court and challenge the whimsical, capricious directive by the EC,” he said.
