The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee on Tuesday held a joint meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC), the Ghana Police Service, and representatives of all presidential aspirants as part of preparations for the party’s flagbearer primary scheduled for January 31.

The meeting, held in Accra, focused on coordination, security arrangements, and adherence to electoral procedures to ensure a smooth and credible voting process. Officials from the EC briefed participants on logistical planning, ballot handling, and the Commission’s role in supporting the internal party election.
Representatives of the Ghana Police Service outlined security measures to protect delegates, officials, and election materials before, during, and after the primary.
They stressed the importance of cooperation from all camps to prevent disturbances and safeguard the integrity of the exercise.

The Elections Committee described the engagement as part of broader efforts to promote transparency and build confidence among aspirants and their teams. Committee members emphasised that regular consultations with key institutions are essential to prevent operational gaps or misunderstandings on election day.
Spokespersons for the aspirants used the platform to raise questions and seek clarification on accreditation, movement of supporters, and the conduct expected from campaign teams at voting centres. The committee assured them that clear guidelines would be enforced to guarantee fairness for all contenders.
With less than two weeks to the contest, party officials said preparations are entering a critical stage, and cooperation among stakeholders will be key to delivering a peaceful and credible presidential primary for the NPP.
