NPP activist ‘Sir Obama Pokuase’ arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist Daniel Adomako, popularly known as “Sir Obama Pokuase,” following an intelligence-led operation targeting the illegal possession and public display of sophisticated firearms.

Sir Obama was taken into custody in the early hours of Wednesday after allegedly sharing images and videos on social media showing individuals handling high-grade weapons.

In a statement, the police confirmed that Mr. Adomako is currently assisting investigators in examining the content, which is suspected to be connected to a wider criminal network.

Authorities noted that several weeks of operations have already led to the seizure of a significant cache of illegal arms and ammunition.

The Police also highlighted that three other suspects have been detained in unrelated cases involving death threats and the dissemination of false information.

Mr. Adomako’s arrest is described as a central step in dismantling networks responsible for circulating dangerous weapons.

In a related development, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu were arrested on August 12 over a viral TikTok video allegedly featuring a woman issuing death threats against President John Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama.

The suspects are in custody and cooperating with ongoing investigations.
