The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Lawyer James Enu, has reassured the public that no casualties were reported following the collapse of an uncompleted three-storey building at Klagon in the Tema West Municipality.
Speaking to Adom News, the MP said excavation work has begun as a safety precaution, noting that some squatters were known to occasionally rest under the structure.
However, there is no confirmation that anyone was trapped beneath the debris.
Lawyer Enu disclosed that the Tema West Municipal Assembly had previously directed the developer to suspend construction after structural defects were detected.
Despite this, workers were reportedly seen continuing work on the site.
He emphasized that the Assembly will pursue the necessary legal action against the property owner for disregarding official safety warnings.
