The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has dismissed claims that it contributed GH¢12 million to the Black Stars, the country’s senior national football team.
Responding to circulating social media reports linking cocoa funds to football sponsorship, the board described the allegations as “false, misleading, and without any factual basis.”
COCOBOD emphasised that its primary focus remains on cocoa farmers, ensuring timely payments, provision of inputs, access to extension services, and continued investment in the cocoa sector.
The board further clarified that no funds intended for farmer payments have ever been diverted to support the national team.
It urged the public to disregard unverified reports and rely solely on COCOBOD’s official communication channels for accurate information.

This statement underscores COCOBOD’s commitment to putting the welfare of Ghana’s cocoa farmers first, reaffirming their central role in the country’s cocoa industry.
