The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul-Salam, has been honoured with a prestigious Gold Award at the 8th Ghana Business Leaders Excellence Awards.
The awards, instituted and organised by Top Brass Ghana, recognise excellence and honour individuals, institutions, and entrepreneurs whose leadership and hard work have significantly contributed to Ghana’s economic growth and development.
This year’s event, held to commemorate the country’s 65th Anniversary of Republican Status, was themed “National Development Through Dynamic Business Leadership.”
More than 25 leaders, institutions, and entrepreneurs were honoured for their achievements across various sectors.
Among the top honorees was Mr. Abdul-Salam, who received the Gold Award for his outstanding contribution to national revenue mobilisation in the lottery sector. He was also celebrated for his recent elevation to the position of Vice-President of the African Lotteries Association (ALA).
“I am deeply grateful for this honour. It is a reflection of the collective effort and unwavering dedication of the Management and Staff of the National Lottery Authority,” he said.
He added that the NLA is poised to introduce reforms to enhance its operations and boost revenue for national development.
While creating opportunities for Ghanaians to play and win, he noted that the Authority remains committed to its Good Causes Foundation—supporting the needy, desolate, and physically challenged through initiatives in health, education, youth and sports development, and arts and culture—as mandated by Section 2(3) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722).
Other awardees included Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Ltd. (Manufacturing), Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank Plc (Rural Banking), Azmera Restaurant and Jofel Catering Services (Catering and Hospitality), and Robert and Sons Ghana Ltd.
Chairperson of the event, President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Stephane Miezan, congratulated all awardees and encouraged them to develop bold and innovative solutions to promote entrepreneurship and business growth, positioning Ghana to compete globally.
