The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region, Joseph Antwi Awal, has assured the chiefs and people of the Ntrubo area of renewed focus and accelerated development to address years of infrastructure and social needs.

The assurance was made during a community engagement tour across the seven electoral areas within the Ntrubo zone.

Speaking to residents and traditional leaders, the MCE expressed concern about the pace of development in the area, attributing it to neglect under the previous NPP administration.

He stated that the current government is committed to reversing the trend and ensuring the area receives its fair share of national development.

According to him, the NDC government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, together with Member of Parliament Geoffrey Kini and the assembly, is committed to rolling out targeted interventions to improve living conditions and stimulate economic growth.

He highlighted priority sectors, including road infrastructure, education, healthcare, access to clean water, and other essential social amenities to enhance socio-economic activities.

The engagement team was led by the Nkwanta South Municipal Coordinating Director, Mahama Musah, NDC executives, and assembly staff.

The delegation used the tour to interact directly with community members, listen to concerns, and assess development gaps firsthand.

Joseph Awal noted that poor road networks and limited access to basic services have constrained economic opportunities for residents, affecting the movement of goods and access to markets, schools, and health facilities.

In an interview with Adom News, he acknowledged the challenges confronting the municipality and appealed to residents to rally behind the government’s development agenda.

He further urged the people to remain united and work together to promote peace and social cohesion, describing unity as a key ingredient for sustained development.

The MCE also encouraged residents to support the municipality by fulfilling their tax and revenue obligations, explaining that internally generated funds are critical for financing local projects and meeting community needs.

Addressing concerns about accountability, he stressed that the current administration is committed to ensuring that revenues collected are used transparently for municipal development. He said the era of citizens paying taxes without seeing tangible results must come to an end.

Chiefs and residents who participated in the engagement commended the MCE for bringing governance closer to the people and creating an opportunity for direct dialogue.

They described the visit as a sign of the government’s commitment to the development of the municipality and appealed to Joseph Awal and the assembly to prioritize the pressing needs presented during the tour to ensure the Ntrubo area benefits meaningfully from national progress.
