The Nkwanta North District in the Oti Region has renewed its commitment to improving sanitation after residents and key stakeholders participated in a district-wide clean-up exercise at the New Market.
The exercise brought together students, teachers, Assembly members, District Assembly staff, Zoomlion workers, traders, and other community members.
Participants cleared refuse and unwanted materials from the market area and filled waterlogged sections to improve accessibility and reduce the risks associated with stagnant water.
Speaking during the exercise, the District Chief Executive for Nkwanta North, Dordoe Kudjoe Isaiah, commended participants for their dedication and collective effort. He emphasized that maintaining clean surroundings should not be left solely to the Assembly or sanitation workers.

He therefore urged residents to take personal responsibility for keeping their homes, workplaces, and public spaces clean.
According to him, sustained improvement in sanitation requires the active cooperation of everyone in the community.
The District Environmental Health Officer also encouraged traders and market users to make cleanliness a daily habit.
Residents were advised to dispose of waste properly and avoid practices that contribute to the accumulation of refuse and the creation of stagnant water.

The Nkwanta North District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to improve sanitation and environmental conditions throughout the district.
