The Chief of Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region, Nana Danso Adjei Ababio, has constituted a five-member committee to tackle rising cases of drug abuse and prostitution in the community.

The decision was announced at a stakeholder meeting attended by the District Chief Executive, security agencies, clergy, assembly members, and operators of bars and hotels.

Addressing the media, Nana Ababio said the committee has been tasked to take immediate action to curb the growing menace, which he noted is tarnishing the image of Nkaseim.

He warned individuals involved in such activities to desist or face strict enforcement by security agencies, adding that the town will no longer tolerate practices that threaten public safety.

The chief also cautioned residents against interfering in police work, particularly those who attempt to secure the release of suspects arrested for drug-related offences or prostitution.

Meanwhile, the Ahafo Regional National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, reaffirmed the resolve of security agencies to clamp down on offenders.

He stressed that authorities will deal decisively with perpetrators, warning that force will be applied if necessary to restore order and sanitise the community.
