Nine men have been brought before the Adabraka District Court for their alleged involvement in the violent assault of Mutala Yayaa at Darkuman, Accra, on September 10, 2025.
The incident, which went viral after a video circulated on social media, captured the group attacking the victim.
According to a police statement released on Friday, September 19, the accused — Bernard Tagoe (alias Asa Sese), Nii Eric Martey, Michael Lokko, Felix Adu Mensah, Habib Gusamu, Solomon Assan, Kwame Khalid, Jacob Addy, and Gideon Arthur — allegedly used dangerous weapons, including a cutlass, axe, and scissors, to inflict serious injuries on Yayaa. The assault left him with deep wounds to the head and body.
All nine have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and causing harm. They pleaded not guilty and were remanded into police custody. The court has ordered them to reappear on September 29, 2025.
Police added that four other suspects identified only as Yaala, Show, Joseph Gattor, Savess, and John Km, are still on the run. A manhunt is underway to apprehend them for questioning.
In a cautionary note, the Accra Regional Police Command urged the public to avoid violence when resolving disputes and instead make use of lawful avenues to settle conflicts.
