National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) and former Member of Parliament for the Odododiodio Constituency, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has indicated his readiness to contest for the National Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), but only on one condition.
Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV, Mr. Vanderpuye said his decision would depend solely on whether the current Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, decides to seek re-election or not.
“If the current Chairman, my very good brother Johnson Asiedu Nketia, is not contesting, I will contest,” he declared.
His comments come amid growing speculation that Mr. Asiedu Nketia is considering joining the NDC’s presidential primaries ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The development has reignited discussions within the party about possible successors to the experienced chairman, who has played key leadership roles in the NDC for decades.
