Nhyira FM’s vibrant sports commentator, Sokoban Fatilow, has demonstrated the transformative power of sports in community development after successfully rallying friends, supporters, and residents of the Sokoban township for a fitness walk and free medical screening exercise.
The initiative, which drew participation from a wide cross-section of the community, underscored Fatilow’s growing influence as a young sports presenter committed to leveraging his platform for social good.

With physical inactivity and preventable lifestyle diseases on the rise, the event marked a timely intervention that blended wellness, education, and community cohesion.
The fitness walk saw participants, from the elderly to the youth, walking 10km from the Sokoban community to the Ahodwo Roundabout and back. The participants walked in a show of unity and collective responsibility for healthier living.
The walk was followed by a comprehensive health screening session where attendees received checks for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, body mass index, and general medical consultation at no cost.

Fatilow, widely admired for his energetic on-air persona and deep connection with local listeners, said the initiative was motivated by a desire to inspire a health-conscious culture among his people.
“As a sports broadcaster, I believe sports goes beyond commentary, it is about driving impact, empowering lives, and ensuring our people stay strong and healthy,” he emphasized.

Community leaders applauded his effort, describing it as a high-value social intervention that reflects responsible citizenship and forward-thinking leadership. Many residents noted that his ability to galvanize the community stems from his credibility, authenticity, and longstanding presence in the area.
Stakeholders say Fatilow’s example reinforces the power of media personalities to influence positive behavioral change beyond the studio. His commitment to community development through sports has positioned him not only as a voice on radio but also a catalyst for wellness and social progress.

As the community looks forward to more editions, Sokoban Fatilow’s initiative stands as a benchmark for how sports media can drive meaningful transformation, one step, one conversation, and one healthy community at a time.
