The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has paid GH¢281.66 million in claims to credentialed health facilities across the country for services provided to National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) members.
The latest payment, made on August 25 and 27, 2026, brings the total claims paid by the Authority since the beginning of the year to GH¢1.64 billion.
The GH¢281,658,680.79 disbursement went to public, private and mission health facilities across the country, as the NHIA continues efforts to ensure providers are reimbursed for services delivered to NHIS members.
Public health facilities received the largest share, with GH¢122,734,138.46, representing 43.58 per cent of the total amount.
Private health facilities received GH¢104,504,883.03, accounting for 37.1 per cent, while mission facilities received GH¢54,419,659.30, representing 19.32 per cent of the latest payment.
NHIA Chief Executive, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, said the Authority remains committed to paying recredentialed facilities promptly after their claims have been vetted.
He said timely reimbursement was necessary to help health facilities maintain the supplies and resources required to provide quality care to NHIS members.
“We know the facilities need the payment to procure consumables to enable them to provide quality care to our members, and it is for this reason we ensure that as soon as their claims have been vetted, we promptly pay them,” Dr Bampoe said.
The NHIA said timely claims reimbursement remains part of its broader efforts to strengthen healthcare financing and support uninterrupted service delivery under the NHIS.
