The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed an additional GH¢267.67 million to settle claims submitted by health facilities across Ghana.
The payment, sanctioned by NHIA Chief Executive Dr. Victor Asare-Bampoe, covers claims vetted up to April 2025.
This latest release brings the total payments made by the NHIA in the past seven months to over GH¢1.5 billion, demonstrating the Authority’s commitment to sustaining the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and supporting healthcare providers.
Of the GH¢267.67 million, public health facilities received GH¢120.7 million (45%), private facilities got GH¢100.2 million (37%), and mission health facilities were allotted GH¢46.7 million (17%).
The NHIA says the prompt payment regime introduced earlier this year has helped maintain a debt-free status for 2025 and ensured timely reimbursements nationwide.
It reaffirmed that the payments align with the Authority’s mandate to fund healthcare services for conditions covered under the NHIS Benefit Package, which addresses over 95% of disease conditions in Ghana.
