NHIA announces temporary disruption in electronic hospital management systems

Dr. Victor Bampoe

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced that some electronic hospital management systems nationwide are experiencing temporary technical challenges, disrupting digital operations in certain health facilities.

In a public statement, the Authority assured the public that swift steps are being taken to resolve the issue.

It also directed all NHIA-accredited healthcare providers to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) members during the period of disruption.

To ensure continued access to healthcare, the NHIA has advised providers to use the mobile phone–based platform to generate Claims Check Codes (CCC). This will enable the processing of claims and prevent service delays for patients.

The Authority cautioned facilities against transferring the impact of the system disruption onto patients through extra fees.

“NHIS members should not be subjected to any financial burden or out-of-pocket payments because of this temporary system disruption,” the NHIA emphasized.

Members encountering challenges in accessing care have been encouraged to contact the NHIA Call Centre at 054-444-6447 for immediate assistance.

The Authority expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and understanding, noting that it is working closely with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to restore full system functionality soon.

“The NHIA sincerely appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of healthcare providers and NHIS members as the Ministry of Health, together with relevant stakeholders, works urgently to resolve the issue and restore full system functionality,” the statement added.
