The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has debunked reports circulating on social media that its Director/Chief Executive has passed away, stating that the claims are untrue.
In a statement signed by the regulatory agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, the NFC confirmed that Ali Nuhu is alive and actively discharging his responsibilities as Chief Executive.
“NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators of these uncouth and dastardly acts, including their sponsors, to the dire and unmistakable consequences of their actions, no matter the innocuousness of their intent,” the statement read.
The Corporation added that appropriate measures have been initiated to curb this “ugly, baleful, and unsatisfactory conduct and trend.” It described the fake news as malicious, injurious, and false in its entirety. NFC, however, expressed appreciation for the genuine concerns shown by the general public as well as private and public sector stakeholders.
The rumours about Dr. Ali Nuhu’s purported passing surfaced on social media Monday evening, with videos featuring his pictures circulating widely.
President Tinubu appointed Dr. Ali Nuhu as Chief Executive of the NFC on February 12, 2024.
