The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lawra, Alhaji Muazu Adams, has passed away, just months after his appointment and confirmation into office.
Alhaji Muazu Adams was confirmed as MCE for the Lawra Municipality in April 2025, receiving 33 ‘yes’ votes against 8 ‘no’ during the assembly’s confirmation process.
However, he was unable to fully assume office due to ill health following his confirmation. His passing was confirmed by his family on Tuesday.
Prior to his political appointment, Alhaji Muazu was a respected educationist. He served as the Upper West Regional Coordinator for Physical Education at the Ghana Education Service (GES) and had a distinguished career as a teacher.
He was an alumnus of Wa Senior High School and NJA College of Education in Wa. He later earned a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Cape Coast.
Alhaji Muazu Adams succeeded Mr. Jacob D. Dery of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Lawra MCE.
Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues and residents, describing him as a humble and dedicated public servant.
