Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has urged the Black Stars’ technical team, led by Otto Addo, to avoid calling up players who previously declined opportunities to represent the national team.

Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup has attracted interest from several European-born talents, including Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah, who are reportedly eager to join the squad for the global tournament.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe stressed that players who initially rejected invitations should be overlooked, while those who have never been called up deserve a chance to prove themselves.

“Those who initially turned down invitations should not be invited at all, but those who have never been invited must be given the opportunity to come and play,” he stated.

The Black Stars will discover their group-stage opponents on Friday, November 5.

After a group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the squad is determined to make a stronger impact at next summer’s tournament, which will be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
