Former District Chief Executive for Amansie South, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, has cast doubt on the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s commitment to ending illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show , Mr. Gyamfi argued that the measures the NDC is currently touting are not new, insisting they had already been implemented under the previous government.

“All the measures the NDC are claiming to use to solve galamsey were done by the previous government. Whatever they are doing now won’t yield any results,” he said.

He further accused the NDC of failing to honour its own promises, noting that the party pledged to end illegal mining activities in forest reserves within its first 120 days in office but has yet to deliver.

Mr. Gyamfi stressed that without innovative strategies and stronger political will, the country’s fight against galamsey will continue to struggle.
