Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Legal and Communications Team, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, has criticised the Ghana Police Service for its handling of violent incidents during the parliamentary rerun in Ablekuma North.

Speaking on Channel One TV, Adawudu condemned the chaos witnessed at various polling centres and expressed concern over the conduct of some police officers, particularly the assault on a journalist.

“For me, the police have questions to answer, especially when even a senior police officer had to slap people. I think that the police need to up their game,” he stated.

His comments follow the disturbances that occurred during the rerun on Friday, July 11, at polling stations including St. Peter’s Methodist Church and North Odorkor Polling Station 2.

Adawudu’s remarks add to a growing chorus of criticism from observers, political actors, and civil society organisations calling for accountability and improved security during elections.
