The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released a timetable for its primaries ahead of the Ayawaso East by-election.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, the party announced that nominations for aspirants open on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the regional office, with the filing of nomination forms scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
“Vetting, balloting, and resolution of appeals will follow on Wednesday, January 28, while the main election is expected to take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, within the Ayawaso East constituency,” the statement added.
The nomination form fee has been set at GH¢5,000, while the filing fee is GH¢40,000, with a 50% reduction for female candidates and persons living with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled the by-election for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure.
The EC stated that nominations for prospective candidates will be received at its Ayawaso East Municipal Office at North Ridge from Monday, February 9, to Wednesday, February 11, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Interested candidates are required to download nomination forms from the Commission’s website between Friday, January 16, and Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
