The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is intensifying efforts to reclaim the Akwatia parliamentary seat with a renewed sense of purpose and a strategic message of transformation.

According to the party’s Director of Protocol and Logistics, Ludwig Hlodze, the NDC is confident of victory in the upcoming by-election through its “Resetting the Agenda” campaign.

Speaking to journalists after the vetting of parliamentary aspirants in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Mr. Hlodze said the party’s strategy is rooted in reconnecting with the grassroots and addressing the core needs of constituents.

“We are confident that our message will resonate with the people of Akwatia. The ‘Resetting the Agenda’ initiative is not just a slogan; it’s a commitment to real, people-centered change,” he stated.

The by-election, set for September 2, 2025, was necessitated by the passing of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.

The NDC has vetted three aspirants vying for the party’s ticket: former MP and 2024 candidate Henry Yiadom Boakye (Okoyo), legal practitioner Bernard Bediako Baidoo, and Erasmus Koney Ali (Asanka).

All three candidates expressed optimism about the NDC’s prospects in the by-election and affirmed their readiness to lead the party into the contest and deliver if elected.
