A tragic accident along the Adaklu road has claimed the life of Nicholas Aklorbortu, a prominent South Tongu figure and former Communications Officer for the NDC in the area.
According to reports, the crash involved three individuals; Mr Aklorbortu, a motor rider and his pillion rider identified simply as Mawuli.
Preliminary reports indicate that the motor rider and Mawuli had been transporting fuel in a container when the collision occurred.
The impact caused the fuel to spill, igniting a fire that destroyed both motorbikes. Mr Aklorbortu ’s motorbike was the most severely affected by the flames.
The NDC executive was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The motor rider, sustained injuries to his face, arm and leg and is reported to be in stable condition. The third victim, identified as Mawuli, was tragically burnt at the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
