The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful and violence-free conduct of its presidential primary, which resulted in former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerging as the party’s flagbearer for the December 2028 general election.

In a statement, the NDC described the exercise as a positive step for Ghana’s democratic development and commended the Ghana Police Service for what it called a professional and efficient security deployment throughout the process.

The opposition party said it welcomed the participation of the NPP and other political parties in what it termed a collective national effort to strengthen and deepen Ghana’s democracy.

The NDC also noted the concession and reconciliatory statements issued by the unsuccessful aspirants in the NPP contest, expressing hope that they would translate their words into action to promote unity within their party.

According to the NDC, peaceful internal party elections remain critical to consolidating Ghana’s democratic gains and fostering political stability ahead of future national polls.
