NCCE inaugurates new governing board to promote civic education and cultural identity

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has inaugurated a new governing board with a mandate to enhance civic responsibility, strengthen Ghana’s cultural identity, and contribute to national development.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in Accra on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who also chairs the board, stressed the importance of strategic leadership in safeguarding Ghana’s cultural heritage.

“The role of civic education is critical in shaping our national consciousness and values. We must approach this with dedication and a shared sense of purpose,” she said.

The board members include Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, Richard Baffour-Awuah, Bridget Mensah, Abena Annobea Asare, Mama Aflo-Vuiede II, Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, Gladys Boateng, Anna Kportufe, Edinam Korkor Atatsi, Mildred Ashley, Abdul-Samed Yakubu Gomda, and Adiza Baba-Issah.

They are expected to guide the NCCE in strengthening civic education, promoting social accountability, and supporting Ghana’s democratic and development agenda.
