National Security allegedly picks up three senior officials of McDan group

McDan Warehouse demolition

Three senior officials of the McDan Group have reportedly been arrested by National Security operatives following the demolition of a warehouse under construction along the Spintex Road in Accra.

According to a report by Accra-based Citi News, the arrests were made at the site, which has since been declared a “National Security Zone.”

The warehouse, reportedly owned by Ghanaian businessman and Executive Chairman of the McDan Group, was allegedly brought down by National Security personnel on Monday evening.

Eyewitnesses say the structure, situated next to Action Chapel, was demolished around 7:00 p.m. using several excavators.

The reasons for the demolition remain unclear as of now.

Tensions escalated on Wednesday when armed military personnel allegedly assaulted a bystander who was granting an interview to JoyNews journalist Carlos Calony.

Mr. Calony was on-site covering the situation and documenting the standoff between civilians and uniformed personnel believed to be military.

The McDan Group is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
