The government of Ghana plans to roll out the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) to equip young Ghanaians with employable skills and tackle youth unemployment, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has announced.
Speaking at the Akuapem-Adukrom Odwira Festival in the Eastern Region, Mr. Debrah highlighted entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.
He described the youth as the “beacon of hope and future” and said entrepreneurship offers limitless opportunities for innovation and employment.
He urged parents, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders to encourage and support young people in developing entrepreneurial skills.
The NAP aims to provide practical skills to reduce unemployment, with the government expecting the initiative to contribute significantly to national economic growth and development.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Adukrom, Osuodumgya Otutu Kono III, called on stakeholders to collaborate in addressing challenges facing Ghanaian youth, including unemployment, substance abuse, and teenage pregnancy.
He emphasized that collective action is essential for the success of government empowerment initiatives.
