President John Mahama has urged Ghanaians to play an active role in the nation’s development, stressing that building the country goes beyond leadership and relies on the daily contributions of its citizens.
Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address on February 27, the President noted that while leaders bear ultimate responsibility, true progress can only be achieved when citizens commit their skills, energy, and patriotism to national growth.
He emphasised that Ghana should not be measured solely by its challenges but by how it responds to them, highlighting the nation’s enduring tradition of resilience and unity in difficult times.
According to President Mahama, building a stronger future will require not just endurance but decisive action, underpinned by robust institutions, a resilient economy, and a shared sense of responsibility across all segments of society.
He added that every Ghanaian — from farmers and traders to professionals and retirees — has a stake in the country’s future and a duty to contribute to its renewal.
