The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. George Kojo Owusu, has dismissed reports suggesting that the Service will not repair its existing ambulances, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by NAS management, Dr. Owusu clarified that he never made the remarks attributed to him in some publications, which alleged that the Service would stop fixing broken-down ambulances.
He emphasized that NAS remains fully committed to maintaining and servicing its current fleet to ensure effective emergency response across the country.
According to the statement, routine servicing and maintenance of ambulances are ongoing and have not been suspended, contrary to what some reports suggested.
Dr. Owusu further assured the public that the Service continues to deploy its available ambulances to respond to emergencies and provide lifesaving medical care when needed.
Management also revealed that NAS is expecting additional ambulances to strengthen operations nationwide. As part of efforts to expand capacity, the Service is pursuing plans to acquire approximately 400 new ambulances and 500 medical motorbikes to improve access to emergency care, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
The Service has therefore advised the public to disregard unofficial reports and rely only on information issued through its verified communication channels.
