Nana Yaa Jantuah calls on clergy to rise in prayer following helicopter crash

Presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has called on Ghanaian clergy to intensify intercessory prayers for the nation in the wake of the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight high-profile individuals, including two cabinet ministers.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana Yaa Jantuah expressed concern over what she described as the growing silence of the country’s religious leaders, accusing many of turning into politicians instead of spiritual intercessors.

“We need to go into serious prayer for God to heal the land. The deaths are becoming too many. I’m slightly disappointed in the Bishops; they should be up and doing in terms of prayers,” she said.

She urged pastors to refocus on their spiritual duties, stressing that, “if you have a vision about someone, you don’t need to tell the person — you have to go into intercessory prayer for them. Our prayers need to go into a conclave and pray for the nation.”

Her comments come after the confirmation of the deaths of Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, in the crash involving a Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

Other victims included Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC; and former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye. Military personnel Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah also perished.
