NAGRAT President warns of rising youth frustration, says African leaders have failed their people

Angel Carbonu

President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu, has warned of growing frustration among Ghanaian youth, driven by low salaries and a lack of economic opportunities.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Carbonu said many young people are increasingly resorting to negative and illegal means to survive, describing the trend as a looming national crisis.

“There is danger ahead. We need to have a national conversation and change our ways of doing things, or we’ll end up in a situation we don’t want,” he cautioned.

Mr. Carbonu lamented that many youths are abandoning hard work and patience for quick money-making schemes, including illegal mining, due to a lack of hope and poor leadership.

“All African leaders have failed their people. The low salaries of young people in Ghana are driving them to adopt negative means to survive, and frustration is spreading across the country,” he said.

He called for urgent national dialogue and policy reforms to restore hope among the youth and promote sustainable economic growth.
