The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Garu District of the Upper East Region has presented relief items to persons affected by disasters in the district.

According to the Garu District NADMO Director, Azum Asigri Emmanuel, a total of 98 beneficiaries have been identified to receive the relief items following an assessment conducted by the district office.

He explained that the assessment covered disasters recorded between January 2025 and December 2025 within the district.

The items distributed include 200 bags of rice, 100 bags of maize, 50 packets of zinc roofing sheets, rubber buckets, and other essential household materials meant to support victims who lost property due to various disasters.

Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive for the Garu District, John Abugba Abaare, expressed happiness about the government’s intervention.

He noted that such support hardly happens in the district, and therefore commended the government and NADMO for the gesture aimed at supporting affected residents.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Adom News expressed appreciation to the government and NADMO for the timely intervention.

They said the items will help them recover from the impact of the disasters and appealed for more support to rebuild their lives.
