Ghanaian musician Mzbel has once again sparked conversation after revealing why marriage is not on her radar, even though she is in a relationship.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Afternoon Ride with Andy Dosty, the outspoken artiste said she has reached a stage in life where she knows exactly what she wants — and marriage isn’t part of it.

“I’m grown. I don’t need a boyfriend. There is a man in my life, but I’m not married. I don’t like marriage,” she said bluntly.

Mzbel explained that, in her view, marriage often complicates relationships rather than enhancing them.

“Marriage spoils everything,” she added.

She went on to say that marriage brings major changes, particularly with living arrangements and personal freedom.

“Once you are married, you have to live together and everything changes. You can’t do the things you used to do,” she explained.

Mzbel also pointed out that constant physical proximity can make relationships monotonous.

“You have to see yourself every day. It becomes boring,” she remarked.

Beyond boredom, she cited the weight of responsibilities that accompany marriage as another reason for her stance.

“Marriage comes with too many responsibilities. I like to be free,” she stressed.

The singer further noted that she already enjoys the benefits typically associated with marriage — companionship, support, and emotional fulfilment — without the pressures and challenges.

“I get everything married people experience without the problems,” she concluded.
