Interim Asante Kotoko coach Prince Yaw Owusu says his side is determined to recover quickly from their recent home defeat to FC Samartex as they prepare for a tricky away fixture against Medeama SC.

The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 2-1 by Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium in their Matchday 28 encounter, a game that was completed on Monday, April 6, after heavy rainfall forced a suspension the previous day.

Kotoko now shift attention to Matchday 29, where they travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC at the TNA Park on Sunday, April 12.

Speaking to the club’s media team, Yaw Owusu insisted the players remain motivated and focused on producing a strong response.

“In life, things happen; when it happens, you don’t have to let it keep you down. I have spoken to them…the boys are ready to fight back and make sure they bring some life to the supporters,” he said.

Yaw Owusu also hinted at Kotoko’s tactical approach for the crucial fixture.

“We are just going to counterattack and see if we can bring them down,” he added.

Kotoko currently sit fourth on the league table with 43 points, eight behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars, as they look to revive their title challenge. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
