Ghanaian musician Muzic Mensah has opened up about his decision to switch from gospel to secular music after a decade of struggling to gain recognition and support in the gospel industry.
Speaking on Day Break Hitz on Hitz FM, the artist revealed that he devoted 10 years of his career to gospel music but received little encouragement from promoters and key players in the music scene.
“I gave everything to gospel for ten years, but the support just wasn’t there,” he explained, adding that the experience eventually influenced his decision to explore secular music.
His first secular single, “Obi Besú,” became an instant sensation, marking a major turning point in his career and inspiring him to keep producing new songs.
Since then, Muzic Mensah has released eight singles, including collaborations with acts such as Kwami Yogot on the track “Ankwanoma.”
His hard work has paid off — he recently won ‘Best Highlife Artiste of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards USA, a milestone that firmly established his place in the highlife genre.
