Multimedia Group secures multiple honours at 29th GJA Media Awards

The Multimedia Group Limited (MGL) secured multiple honours at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Media Awards, held at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi under the patronage of the Asantehene, with President John Dramani Mahama also in attendance.

MGL walked away with eight awards across a variety of categories for journalism in 2024, spanning English and Ghanaian-language programming, station recognition, sports journalism, and special topic reporting

The confirmed winners from MGL included:

  • Best Reporting in Domestic Tourism – Anas Sabit (JoyNews)
  • Student Journalist of the Year – Clinton Yeboah (Luv FM)
  • Best Illegal Mining Reporting – Ohemeng Tawiah (Luv FM)
  • Sports Journalist of the Year – Muftawu Nabila Abdulai (JoySports)
  • Best Radio/TV Programme (Ghanaian Languages, 2024) – Ekɔsiɛsɛn (Asempa FM)
  • Best Radio/TV Programme (English Language, 2024) – The Probe (JoyNews)
  • Best Akan TV Station of the Year – Adom TV
  • Best Radio Entertainment Programme – Showbiz A-Z (Joy FM)

These accolades reflect MGL’s broad reach across English-language and vernacular media, television, radio, investigative reporting, and sports journalism.

The awards ceremony also highlighted the media’s critical role in addressing national issues such as peace, security, and illegal mining, consistent with the event’s theme: “Safeguarding Ghana’s future: the role of the media in promoting peace, security and the fight against galamsey.”

MGL’s strong showing at this year’s GJA Awards reinforces its status as a leading media organisation in Ghana, with a diverse portfolio spanning current affairs, sports, entertainment, and investigative journalism.
