The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Kingsley Agyemang, has donated GH¢45,240 to the Kibi School for the Deaf (KIDEAF) to help feed its students through the end of the third term.
The timely support comes as the school faced a severe food shortage due to delays and inadequacies in government feeding grants. According to school officials, all food supplies had been exhausted, and suppliers, weighed down by outstanding debts, were no longer offering items on credit.
The MP’s donation will cover the cost of breakfast, lunch, and supper for all 174 students from June 15 to July 31, 2025.
“This gesture is not just about food; it’s about dignity, inclusion, and ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, can learn in a safe and supportive environment,” Mr. Agyemang stated.
He commended the commitment of the school’s management and praised the leadership of the Municipal Director of Education and the school’s head, Kumah Cephas, for their efforts during the crisis.
“This is a moment for all of us to reflect on how we support Special Needs education in Ghana. We must do more—and do better—for our Special Needs schools,” he added.
KIDEAF, like many Special Needs institutions across the country, relies heavily on government assistance to provide essential services.
