The non-existence of gas field inspectors is partly to blame for the incessant gas explosions in the country.

This according to the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker is worrying following the huge gas explosion and fire outbreak at Atomic Junction on Saturday.

Seven people including a cameraman with Accra-based Net 2 television were killed and many others injured.

The Presidency has promised to swiftly roll out a robust policy to deal fire disasters.

But before that, Hon. Mireku Duker on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Tuesday proposed the establishment of a gas filing centre to avert any such pandemonium.

In his view, setting up gas filing stations at the outskirts of town will not be the panacea if there is citizenry lack education.

The Tarkwa-Nsuaem MP is convinced setting up gas inspection taskforce to do house-to-house inspection will solve the problem.

Also, Hon. Mireku Duker wants spillage centres to be established in oil producing area to avert any disaster.

He indicated that, although a policy on fire disasters was good, the country needs a comprehensive National Security and Safety Policy Document.

Hon. Mireku Duker called for safety and first aid to be added to schools curriculum to ensure students are equipped to save lives at a tender age.
