A motorcyclist, identified only as Matthew, is fighting for his life following a crash at Monaco Junction, Atonsu, in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The incident involved a private vehicle with registration number GN 1754-18 and reportedly occurred during a police pursuit that began from the Kaase area.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the rider was being chased by a police patrol vehicle, GP 3764, when he allegedly attempted to speed away.
According to reports by Accra-based 3news, Matthew lost control of the motorcycle and veered into the path of an oncoming car, resulting in the collision.
Residents nearby rushed to assist the injured rider before he was transported to the Kumasi South Hospital for emergency treatment.
Sources at the hospital confirmed that he sustained serious head injuries and is currently receiving critical care.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the events that led to the pursuit, and have urged the public to remain calm as inquiries continue.
