Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu clinched the Man of the Match award after a commanding performance in AS Monaco’s 2-2 draw with Cyprus’ Pafos on Wednesday.
Salisu impressed throughout the full 90 minutes, topping the UEFA Technical Observer ratings despite conceding a late equaliser.
Monaco took the lead when Takumi Minamino calmly converted in the fifth minute, but Pafos quickly responded as former Chelsea defender David Luiz powered in a header from a corner just 13 minutes later.
The French side regained the lead minutes later, with Folarin Balogun slotting home following a goalkeeping error by Neofytos Michail.
Pafos forced a dramatic late equaliser when Ivan Sunjic’s shot struck the bar and deflected off Salisu past the goalkeeper.
Salisu’s influence was evident in his 54 completed passes and 14 crucial defensive interventions, highlighting his leadership at the heart of Monaco’s backline.
The 26-year-old will aim to continue his strong form when Monaco host reigning champions PSG at Stade Louis II on Saturday.
