Ghana forward Mohammed Fuseini is on the verge of joining English Championship club Birmingham City after the two sides agreed a loan deal with Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 24-year-old is expected to undergo a medical before completing the move, which includes an option for Birmingham City to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
Fuseini leaves Belgium after a successful spell with Union Saint-Gilloise, where he played a key role in the club’s recent domestic achievements.
Last season, he helped the Brussels-based side secure a historic league and cup double, while also making an impressive start to the current campaign with two assists in the Belgian Pro League and a goal in the UEFA Champions League.
His impending departure was further signalled when he was omitted from Union’s squad for Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Anderlecht.
Fuseini joined Union Saint-Gilloise in 2024 from Austrian side Sturm Graz following a productive loan spell with Danish club Randers.
He quickly established himself as an important figure in the team and contributed significantly to one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history.
During his time in Brussels, the Ghanaian helped Union end a 90-year wait for the Belgian Pro League title and also featured prominently in the club’s UEFA Champions League campaign. He later added a Belgian Cup triumph to his growing list of honours.
Fuseini also attracted attention off the pitch last month after footage showing him being attacked by masked robbers circulated widely on social media.
The striker departs Union Saint-Gilloise having scored 15 goals and played his part in the club’s haul of three major trophies, with Birmingham City now set to benefit from his services as they pursue promotion to the Premier League.
