The family of a missing 42-year-old Fulani herdsman in Dambai, the capital of the Krachi East Municipality in the Oti Region, is appealing to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and other state security agencies to intensify investigations and provide updates, nearly 10 months after he allegedly went missing.
Fuseini Mohammed, described by relatives as the family’s breadwinner, was reportedly abducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, along the Oti Minister’s Residency Road in Dambai.
According to the family, he was returning home with his wife at about 7:30 p.m. when unknown persons, said to be in a pickup vehicle, intercepted them and took him away from the motorbike.
The abductors allegedly claimed they were taking him to a police station for interrogation.
However, the family says subsequent checks at the police station did not confirm his presence, and they have had no verified information on his whereabouts since that evening.
During a visit by Adom News’ Obrempongba Owusu to the family home in Dambai, Fuseini Mohammed’s father, 72-year-old Ali Mohammadu, pleaded with authorities to help locate his son.
Visibly emotional, he said the family has struggled to cope since the disappearance, stressing that Fuseini was responsible for the household’s basic needs.
“He is the one taking care of the family. Since he vanished, things have been difficult for his wives and the children,” he said, adding that the grandchildren continue to ask about their father.
He appealed directly to the IGP, the Oti Regional Coordinating Council and security agencies to treat the case with urgency and compassion.
Speaking separately, the first wife, Ayisha Fuseini, said the family has lived in fear and uncertainty since the incident.
She claimed there had been earlier threats involving individuals she identified as Ali, Durie, Kaleri and Wura, noting that these names were reported to the police for further investigation after her husband’s disappearance.
However, she said no meaningful progress has been communicated to the family.
Ayisha reiterated the account of the alleged abduction, stating that after the men took her husband away and claimed they were sending him to the police station, efforts to trace him through official channels yielded nothing.
She urged the relevant authorities to carry out a thorough investigation and provide clarity to the family.
The second wife, Alimatu, who said she was about four months pregnant when her husband went missing, also described the hardship the family has endured, including caring for the children without their father’s support.
She appealed to the police and other security agencies to renew efforts to locate him and ensure the family receives regular updates on the investigation.
As the months pass without answers, the family says its main request is straightforward: a credible investigation, clear communication from authorities and a determined effort to establish what happened to Fuseini Mohammed and where he may be.
NPP demands answers
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the government, the Oti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and relevant security agencies to provide clear answers on the reported disappearance of 42-year-old Fuseini Mohammed, a resident of Dambai.
The party said the case, which has remained unresolved for nearly 10 months, raises serious concerns about public safety, the effectiveness of the investigation and the transparency of security agencies.
The NPP is therefore urging the authorities to intensify efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding Mohammed’s disappearance and provide the family and the public with updates on the case.
