Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has commended initiatives that promote local economic development through cultural events, highlighting the upcoming Gomoa Easter Carnival, scheduled for April 2 to 5, 2026.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, he emphasised that Members of Parliament have a responsibility to showcase the economic potential of their constituencies.

He recalled how notable figures, including Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and the late Ferdinand Ayim, contributed to developing the Kwahu Easter concept, which has since become a major annual attraction and economic driver.

Afenyo-Markin also praised Kwame A-Plus, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, for promoting the Gomoa enclave through the Easter carnival. He noted that the MP has engaged traditional authorities, including the Paramount Chief of Gomoa Ejumako, to support and draw attention to the event.

According to him, such initiatives can boost economic activity, create opportunities, and put communities on the national tourism map. He encouraged fellow MPs to adopt similar strategies by leveraging unique economic and cultural opportunities in their constituencies.
