Minority condemns disruption at Ridge Hospital

MP, Effiduase-Asokore Constituency

The Minority Health Caucus in Parliament has condemned what it describes as the “unlawful and reckless” conduct of Mr. Ralph St. Williams at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) on Monday, August 18, 2025.

In a press statement signed by Ranking Member Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye on Tuesday, the caucus expressed grave concern over a viral video that captured Mr. Williams storming the hospital premises with a group of men, shouting at health professionals, filming staff and patients without consent, and disrupting operations.

The caucus described the incident as “an affront to public order, patient privacy, and the dignity of hardworking health professionals,” stressing that hospitals are places of healing, not “theatres for political theatrics or disruptive conduct.”

It further criticized the government for what it called a tacit endorsement of such behaviour, pointing to recent cordial interactions between Mr. Williams and the Minister of Health as “troubling” and emboldening of disorderly conduct.

The group extended apologies to the management, staff, patients, and visitors of Ridge Hospital while commending health workers for their dedication despite difficult conditions.

The caucus has called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the incident thoroughly and take legal action to prevent future occurrences.

It also urged the Health Minister and Parliament’s Select Committee on Health to launch a joint inquiry into the matter.
