The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, in collaboration with key agribusiness stakeholders, has held a Regional Agribusiness Dialogue in Ho under the theme: “Resetting Agribusiness for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Growth.”
The dialogue aimed to strengthen partnerships, enhance market access, and promote value addition within the sector.
The engagement brought together farmers, processors, exporters, financial institutions, government agencies, and development partners from the Volta and Oti regions to deliberate on emerging opportunities and challenges across the agribusiness value chain. Participants also explored strategies to boost competitiveness and drive job creation in the two regions.
Dr. Betty Annan, Country Director, Accra Ghana, told Adom News Correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job that the Regional Agribusiness Dialogue is expected to feed into national-level planning as the government works to build a resilient, export-driven agricultural sector capable of significantly contributing to Ghana’s economic growth.
She emphasized the need for increased investment in processing facilities, improved access to credit, and the adoption of modern technologies to enhance productivity. Dr. Annan also stressed the importance of strong public-private collaboration in addressing bottlenecks that hinder agribusiness expansion, noting that the dialogue forms part of a broader national agenda to foster sustainable agribusiness models and accelerate economic transformation.
Kwame Oppong Ntim, Country Director of Agribusiness, reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting agribusiness growth through improved policies, infrastructure development, and targeted financial interventions.
Some participants expressed optimism that the dialogue would translate into actionable policies and programmes directly benefiting farmers and agribusiness operators. They commended the Ministry of Trade and its partners for creating a platform that encourages inclusive participation and knowledge sharing.
