The Ministry of Education has confirmed the delivery of more than 3,000 mono desks to Labone Senior High School in Accra on Monday, November 24, addressing concerns that newly admitted Form One students were forced to sit on the floor or use dining hall benches due to a severe furniture shortage.
In a statement, the Ministry noted that Labone SHS had formally requested 3,282 mono desks through the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) approved and allocated the full request, with delivery completed on Monday.
The distribution is part of a nationwide initiative to supply 200,000 mono desks to 100 senior high schools transitioning from the double-track to the single-track system.
The programme aims to gradually eliminate furniture deficits and improve learning conditions across second-cycle institutions.
The Ministry reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every student studies in a safe and conducive environment and pledged continued collaboration with GES, GETFund, and other stakeholders to strengthen educational infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning nationwide.
